Season Premieres... Our's Included

As you enjoy all your favorite network shows returning to the small screen this week, please welcome back The Midnight Barbecue to your computer screen, iPod, iPhone, futuristic 3-D goggles or what ever else you have going on. Sorry for the break, but we were busy chilling with other television stars taking the summer off. Like who, you ask? If you must know? Not one to drop names but; Steve Carell, Patrick Dempsey, and that obnoxious British fellow from Dancing With the Stars... I'll tell you what, Tom Bergeron can be so annoying.

UPDATE

At long last, an update from the front-lines of the MB.

We apologize for the delay; just as the show was hittin' massive and ridiculous momentum, we had an unfortunate separation from Bruno and Glenn America, which halted production entirely, and brought an early end to season 2.

That said, you all will be (I hope) pleased to hear we are hard at work, and have recently completed filming of four complete new episodes that will appear on the website soon.

Included in what you will see soon in the final three shows for season 2 are the most outrageous videos we've ever aired (courtesy our friends at Who Do You Know Here? Productions), a full concert in studio from In Technicolor, the first appearance of a real, live, congressional candidate on our show (vote perriello), and the debut of Dave Vitto on the program as a part-time camera guy/dating consultant/paisan.

Last night, we taped the fourth new show, and the one that may serve as the premiere of season 3. With Steve in tow running cameras, the show featured an absurd and hysterical conversation with the band Raw Dawg (who are actually really good), which veers dangerously close to William Hamburger territory. We'll leave it at that. The show also features Adam's debut as a musical guest; playing guitar while Nick improvises some lyrics.

And yes, I have been talking about myself in the 3rd person.

Good to be back, and thanks for stickin' with us.

dating show. you heard me right.

So summer is almost here, and spring relationships are at a crossroads....the MB is pleased to announce that in the next few weeks, we will be taping a show with noted dating guru Dave Vitto, plus a panel of other dignitaries in the industry. We plan to get hammered, and solve all of your problems. Start thinking of questions; either send them in (you can just respond to this message), or hold onto them until the time is right----we will let you know the number and time to call into the show.
If you want to be ON the dating advice spectacular, let us know....the doors are open and the kegerator is full.

by the way, it has been a long time since I've updated the blog. Go back and read my old posts. I warned you this would happen. Time and again.

We're back, by the way. Thanks for checking out the website.

Long live the cue

spring break

As we take a three-week (roughly) break from taping---well deserved after the frenetic pace of the last couple months---I figured I'd post a quick update....again, in bullet-point form.

-taped three shows last week....first, our scheduled guest cancelled (stuck in Arizona on a layover), so we were able to find one of our favorite people, former major college basketball coach Pete Gillen, and drag him back to the studio......then, Sparky's Flaw of Mercury Records spent 90 minutes with us (those guys are f#*&% nuts)....finally, we taped our annual NFL Mock Draft, and none other than Chris Long (the same Chris Long who will probably go number one overall in the real NFL draft) donned his general manager hat and joined us for the full show....

ok, actually, that's pretty much it. so, the bulletpoints were fairly useless. it was more like "bulletpoint."

Oh, and lots of more shows are now up in the episode guide, so check 'em out. And some relatively new YouTube clips are up, too. New sponsors listed at the bottom of the main page, by the way.

BTW---texas/ohio (and vermont and rhode island) vote tomorrow. If you happen to read this and you're in one of those places, we'd like to reiterate our endorsement of Sen. Obama. Hillary is starting to scare the shit out of us.

I guess those could have been bulletpoints, now that I think about it.

more soon.

I Have Formidable Biceps

So to recap last nights show, we arm wrestled, listened to lounge singers, and then talked politics and right wing scandal.
  • The show kicked off with the usual, Adam's commentary vs. my Oration. This bout ended in a draw.
  • Next we brought on the Gal's (and gentleman) from C.L.A.W. , which stands for Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers, and talked arm wrestling and had an impromptu arm wrestling contest.
  • After that, we listened to some lounge tunes from a man who wins my entertainer of the moment award, Richard Cheese. If you don't know about Dick Cheese, listen up: He is a lounge singer from Las Vegas who sings covers of some of America's favorite pop/rap/rock hits. Check out his version of U2's Bloody Sunday.
  • Then Adam segued into a opera based on phone transcript of Bill O'Reilly that was presented in sexual harassment complaint brought onto him by a former female producer. I found it both educational and entertaining, which I find to be the foundation of all learning. If you don't know about this, let our buddy Mike Stark explain it to you.
  • Mike Stark (read more of him in his diaries on the Daily Kos) then joined the program and shared with us some right wing sex scandals that may have gone under the radar over the past 4 - 8 years of "The reign of Premier Bush"

That was the show, but I would like to take a moment to thank all those who comment to us on our blog and in other ways, and invite our more vocal fans to participate in the show via phone. We would love to hear from you all. Hoping to get you on the line soon E.G.

been a week

short entry. longer one tomorrow. or more likely, in a month. for now, bulletpoints.

-The Midnight Barbecue endorsed Barack Obama for president, in a narrow choice over Mike Gravel. Not coincidentally, Obama then beat Gravel handily here in Virginia.
-The Kings of Belmont were on the show
-They are a band
-Eric Prum was also on the show. He's a professional paintball player who has his own fan club
-Taping soon with Sparky's Flaw, Mike Stark (again), the Charlottesville League of Armwrestling Women (CLAW), and the Rolling Stones. (Ok, one of those is an exaggeration. We'll let you guess which one)
-The kegerator has been revitalized
-Nick, Glenn America, and I will soon be immortalized in cardboard cutouts.

more to come

cheers

on the can...

The other side of being on the cover of a magazine: I was picking up dinner tonight at a local restaurant prior to the UVa basketball game, and I walked into the men's room...and there, lying on the back of the toilet, was my face smiling back at me....that's right, all over central Virginia, people are reading about the Midnight Barbecue while taking a shit.

Sounds about right.
